It is widely known that the job market is evolving swiftly and workers are not able to rely on working the same position or similar working environment for lifetime. In my opinion, I reckon this change is due to a series of reasons, and we can take actions on preparing ourselves in terms of maintaining our competitiveness in order to adapt to the job market in the future.
On the one hand, there are several possible causes that lead to this phenomenon. First and foremost, with the advancement of technology, more and more jobs require job applicants to have equivalent related skills. For instance, nowadays, many employers realize they can improve productivity by including computers in their work, thereby, they are requiring employees to have a strong background of computer skills. Secondly, there are excessive number of job applicants with high level of education, such as bachelor’s degrees and college’s degrees, which leaves employers a lot of options when it comes to hiring new employees. Lastly, it is popular for many countries to delay the retirement age, which means it becomes more unlikely for young people to land a decent job.
On the other hand, we can definitely take some actions to prepare ourselves. We can always learn new skills, especially about the new technology, which helps us significantly boost our competitiveness. For example, the debut of ChatGPT has shocked the whole world with its intelligence and effeciency, and I believe it is very essential for us to learn how to utilize such tool to help us skyrocket our productivity. In addition, people should always have auxiliary plans when it comes to job searching. If we cannot get a decent job which aligns with our interest(especially for university graduates), we should start doing other entry-level jobs, such as cashiers and junior engineers, we can gain plenty of work experiences for doing it.
In conclusion, although there have been many challenges for job searching, especially during this era when science and technology advancing quickly, I believe that we should stay positive and take active actions to get ourselves well-prepared.
