In my hometown, situated on the outskirts of Hung Yen Province, the residents, in addition to living friendly with each other, also care about preserving the traditions and customs that are deep-rooted in everyone’s mind.
We have a lot of beautiful traditions and customs that are passed down through many generations. We hold many festivals and celebrations, in these days, houses are vibrant and joyful with music and decorations, and people also stroll down the crowded streets. On these days, we gather to cook a big meal with various traditional dishes, then we sing and dance happily. Festivals bring people back together and there are no boundaries of generations or ages between us. Besides, we worship our ancestors and national heroes on the days we commemorate them or on the death anniversaries of the families. Every family often set up elaborate altars with offerings of food and incense to show our sincere respect to our ancestors. Moreover, elders play a crucial role in teaching children about these customs, imparting stories and practices that connect them to their heritage. This blend of festive joy, reverence for the past, culinary traditions, and intergenerational education creates a rich tapestry of cultural continuity in our community.
In summary, the customs and traditions in my hometown create a strong community feeling. We celebrate with festivals, honor our ancestors, and listen to the wisdom of our elders. These activities help us remember our heritage and make sure our traditions continue in the future.
