There is an ongoing debate about whether individuals should compete againts each other or if more cooperation should be encouraged at offices, at school, or in personal life. This essay will examine both arguments before presenting my viewpoint.
On the one hand, supporters of competition argue that it encourages people to push for themselves and be innovative. In this modern world, those who can differentiate themselves with others and develop groundbreaking ideas will gain popularity and recognition. While contributing to humans’s well-being, they can also earn financial advantages by selling their ideas. For example, individuals who invent new technologies usually apply for patent to protect their novelties and generate income. This highlights how society in general and people individually receive benefits due to the willingness to compete with others.
On the other hand, proponents of cooperation believe that all objectives can be achieved efficiently. By sharing available resources, combining different skills, and having more people working simultaneously, laborous projects or objectives can be accomplished more easily and more quickly. For example, during World War II, the United States gathered several nation’s best scientists, which had distinctive abilities, to develop atomic bomb to fight againts Japan, resulting in the war being ended sooner than expected. This shows how working together as a team leads to more significant results in general.
After considering both views, I believe a more balanced approach should be adopted because both sides have different mechanism to generate advantages for society. Competition fosters innovation, while cooperation accelerate progress. Therefore, we should not apply a blanket ban or a total support to one side.
In conclusion, whether by competing againts each other or cooperating more, positive impacts can be achieved by both ways. As long as they benefit the humankind, I believe that the two alternativess should be adopted at work, at schools, and in life.
