Nowadays, we can not imagine our life without telephones and they already became a part of it. A large part of most children’s time is spared on their phones. They enables us communication, getting dopamine and finding out some information on the internet. I believe this is not completely a beneficial change. This essay explains why most people are spending considerable amount of their time on smartphone and what drawbacks does it have.
Firstly, mobile phones have revolutionized the way we communicate. They allow instant connection with friends, family, and even people across the globe. For children, this means making new friends through online communities. Additionally, smartphones are a gateway to a vast amount of knowledge. Educational apps, online tutorials, and interactive games can enhance learning, making it more engaging and accessible. For instance, apps like Duolingo make learning new languages fun and effective, while platforms like Khan Academy provide free access to quality education.
Furthermore, phones can offer relaxation and entertainment, whether through games, music, or videos. This helps children to take a break after a long day, providing a sense of balance in their busy schedules.
On the other hand, the excessive use of mobile phones can lead to negative consequences. One of the most significant issues is the impact on mental health. Children who spend excessive time scrolling through social media or playing games may experience increased anxiety, stress, or even depression. The constant need for validation through likes and comments can harm their self-esteem. Moreover, being involved with the screen often leads to a sedentary lifestyle. This lack of physical activity can contribute to health problems such as obesity, poor posture, and even sleep issues which is especially harmful to growing children. Another concern is the distraction that phones create. Many children struggle to focus on their studies thanks to virtual games and other entertainments. This can affect on their personal development.
In conclusion, while mobile phones provide some merits, their excessive use can have serious downsides including health problems, phone addiction or distractions. As the saying goes “Health is wealth”, we should not allow this kind of devices to steal our wealth.
