Violence is an unethical practice that is not beneficial to anybody as it can impact negatively on society. Though this is a fact, some people still believe these factors don’t contribute to people’s behavior. But others disagree that the violence telecasted on television and computer games has a damaging effect on the upbringing and growth of children and adults. This essay will address both sides of the argument with a partial stand.
Many television content and computer games show violence which is inappropriate as it can severely affect the lives of the people. Another point is the violence shown on platforms such as OTT, and TV gives less preference to show the strict law and order by which a clear and sound message can reach the viewers. But this being not the case it gives confidence to the people to practice violence in real life and bring destruction. It may cause wrong interpretations in society’s mind that anger and aggressiveness are normal. A substantial rise in crime rates might affect the youthful generation and their ability to think on the right path.
While this is the case on one side of the argument, another side expresses that everyone should be strong-minded and directed in such a way as to at least understand the thin line between a wrong and right thing. However, a well-educated person with false motives can still indulge in these activities regardless the person watches the television or not. If people are educated on ‘violence and the role it plays in shaping the minds of the people’, it can result in better situations. Media violence can never be connected to the social violence that takes place. If this was so then films and web series containing crime and violence would not have passed the censor’s board.
Thus, considering both sides of the argument, I think, I partially agree and partially disagree on the violence. Both sides of opinions play an important role. Yet, the dispute continues.
