Nowadays, modern technology has undeniably transformed the way people interact and communicate. There have several discussions about this issue. Some argue that digital technology connects people closer together, whereas others believe that it increases distance among them. From my perspective, I don’t completely agree with any given opinion. This essay will discuss both opinions and the reasons why I hold this view.
On the one hand, technology plays a important role in connecting people together. This is because social media platforms such as messaging apps, online video calls, facebook, and zalo help us keep in touch with family, friends, and loved ones even when not in the same place. It also encourages and creates opportunities to communicate and exchange cultures with international friends to enhance their knowledge about the world, prompting the development of individuals and sustainable societies. For instance, people working or studying abroad are restricted by geographical distance with their families, friends, loved ones thus it is easy for homesickness. Through social media platforms, they can reduce the feeling of longing and this inspires motivation for them to work hard to achieve their goals.
On the other hand, the impact of technology brings several drawbacks to human. With the fast- changing technology, it promotes generation distance seriously between old and young people. For example, Later generation who access to information technology from early, they can catch the trend, have update thinking, opinions and desire to express one’s own identity. While their parent or grandparent maturing within traditional and old-fashioned cultures and thinking, usually struggle with this rapid transformation. Therefore, more and more conflicts appear making impact on relationships.
Therefore, it is reasonable to say that modern technology brings large benefits for communicating and connecting community, but some disadvantage don’t wanna behind. It will be a great tool if they know how to balance it.
