Every human being comes to planet Earth with their destiny. While some work corporate and desk jobs, some have to work laborious, service-based jobs which can be physically taxing. To assume that every human being should work till the age of 65 and only retire after that can be unfair to many. For example, a security guard for a bank who has put his/her life in danger for the major part of their life to earn money and protect the bank, deserves to feel secure at an early age. It would be unfair to expect them to work till the age of 65. One reason for this is that a security guard may be working night shifts which is detrimental to their health as they need to stay awake and alert the whole night. In addition to this, their quality of life is compromised as they need to rest the whole day to be able to serve their duty during the night. Not only are they unable to spend time with their families, but are not available when most of the world is awake and running. If people in such situations want to retire at the age of 55, they should be given the liberty to do so.
Similarly, an individual working a white collared job from behind the desk may feel like they have the ability to work beyond the age of 65. They have accumulated knowledge and experience in this field which could be useful to their company and might stop them from wanting to retire at 65. For example, my father who is now 60 has no plans of retiring and is starting a business at this age. He feels like age has no limits, and a set retirement age feels more like a hindrance to him.
Keeping this in mind, people should be given the liberty to choose when they want to retire, and considering the type of job they do, the government should have pension plans accordingly. Age should not be a determining factor for how an individuals career trajectory should be.
