Nowadays, many people believe that education should be accessible to everyone and funded by the government. While others disagree with this statement, I firmly believe in it as education is a basic human right.
On the one hand, some individuals think that the citizens should pay for their own education rather than the government because a country’s financial and political state should come first and foremost. A country might not have a stable economy and are therefore unable to provide free education. They might also have other present issues that should take precedent, such as an ongoing war.
On the other hand, I believe that the government should offer free education to its population no matter the situation. Education is a necessity in this day and age. It is crucial to someones quality of life to have at least a high school diploma or a bachelors degree. Sadly, not everybody is fortunate enough to finance their own education and so this should be the job of the government. If these institutions refuse to build schooling facilities then the job is passed down to companies owned by the people. Unfortunately, these enterpriseses most likely do not have altruistic goals and will make a business out of education. They will take advantage of the wealthy and disregard the poor.
In conclusion, everybody no matter their financial background should receive an education. If the government does not provide their populace with this necessary requirement then other companies will take over the job and use it as an opportunity to line their pockets. Even though some countries do not have the funds to maintain and offer free education, they should at least try their best.
