Nowadays, people think that students are becoming reliant on the use of digital technology which will affect their reading and writing ability. Therefore, some people argue teachers have to stay away from using digital devices in classroom activities and replace them with more basic competence. I personally disagree with this issue and for several reasons.
To begin with, as we face this digital era, the mastery of using computers become a must for students. Having the ability to use a computer becomes essential since all courses or handouts are in digital form nowadays. For example, in writing an essay, typing on the computer is helpful because it is faster than handwriting and can reduce the risk of mis-spelling. This means that it will help students to composeorganize a good essay faster. Besides, there are lots of reading preferences that can be found on the websites or digital platforms. As a result, children can easily find the topic or genre of books and read it wherever they like. This will lead to the development of reading habit.
On the contrary, the traditional method of teaching has some difficulties if it has to be implemented in this era. For example, not many people bring a hard-copy book because all the materials can be found in digital forms. In addition, gadgets have already replaced this way of teaching due to the convenience and practicality Another reason is that, students sometimes think that the traditional strategy is quite boring and not up-to-date. Digital platform helps students express their ideas creatively.
In conclusion, as a part of digitalized communities, students must have the mastery of computers. Therefore, the consideration of using it for the right purpose is definitely needed.
