With the continuous self-development of the young generation these days, I believe that it is far more advantageous to have people from different generations mix in the same workplace.
Admittedly, there are opinions from employees who think that seniors and juniors could not work in the same place. Chief of these is workplace bullying in which old workers might put pressure on newer employees. For example, some experienced workers spend 3 to 4 years climbing to the current position while younger ones might be directly eligible for the same position, which can definitely cause jealousy among colleagues. Furthermore, the generation gap in the workplace comes with different perspectives. In fact, in terms of company development, Gen Z workers are likely to take risks, while long-term staff choose the stable way with slow progress, which creates controversy in the company.
Conversely, most office workers put forth more compelling reasons to say that it is more beneficial to work with juniors in a workspace. The key reason is that the office atmosphere will be more lively and energetic with the addition of a younger workforce. Younger generations have a tendency to arrange communal activities, such as team building, going on business and afternoon tea that can connect to every worker. Moreover, older employees would guide newer ones with their experience. This is extremely helpful for those who are not confident in their skills, facilitating them to complete their tasks.
In conclusion, although this trend could bring some drawbacks in the workplace, I subscribed to the view that it is more beneficial to have different generations work in a place. Some of the reasons why I hold this view include the energy of new employees and the experience of predecessors despite disagreements and conflicts between colleagues.
