The diagram illustrates different steps in the process of producing pencils, starting from planting seeds and ending when transporting to consumers.
Overall, the process consists of 12 main steps, which commence with seeding plants, through various processing steps, and culminate with the packing of pencils.
The first four steps involve cultivating plants. Initially, the plants are seeded and then replanted in a different location four months later. In the next three years, the trees undergo the process of thinned and continuously grow for a duration of fourteen years. Subsequently, they are chopped and harvested when they are fully grown, which will be utilized in the further phase.
The remaining six steps are manufacturing pencils. In the next stage, after being treated and cut into thin slats, the piece of wood is colored and then kept for 2 months. Following that, there are grooves made in the surface of the wood, in order to facilitate sticking the black leads into it by glue simultaneously. A new slat and the old one sandwich the black lead. A heated and compressed machine is used to align the two slats together. After being completely aligned, it is separated into a small piece. Finally, they undergo the process of painting, sharpening, and stamping to get the true shape of the pencil, and then are stacked into a pack. Ultimately, the items are easily available for transport to consumers
