Knowing foreign languages can be useful for children nowadays. However, there is a contention over whether schools should push children to learn other languages. I believe that children should be given the opportunity to learn different languages under no pressure as this will be beneficial for them to get familiar with other cultures and also develop a range of practical skills for their post-school life.
learning a foreign language at school can be effective for children to get to know different cultures. Every different language comes from different country and culture. It is certain that when children get to know the literacy of a language, they will be prone to know more about the culture and the origin of it. Also, being able to read, write and speak an alternative language will make you bond with the native speakers. Hence, if a school provides an additional language course for the young, it would be a foundational experience for them as it prepares them to communicate better.
Being familiar with another language since you are a child can develop a range of functional skills for your life after school. For example, sometimes studying abroad for higher education requires the students to know the spoken language of that specific place in order to communicate properly. Also being able to comprehend and use an alternative language could be impressive for universities admission committee or companies job interviewers as it has a good impact on the communications and relations.
