The illustration compares how much grams of potatoes, pasta, and rice people consume in a particular European country from 1976 to 2006.
Overall, while pasta was gradually rising, potatoes were rapidly decreasing. In comparison, despite a minor decrease, rice managed to increase.
In detail, starting at less than 300 g in 1976, pasta steadily rose to approximately 350 g in 1981, followed by a further escalation to 400 g in 1986. Afterwards, it experienced gradual growth to 500 g in 1996, reaching its peak, and remained unchanged until 2006.
In contrast, beginning with 400 g in 1976, potatoes saw a significant increase to around 450 g in 1981. However, they sharply dropped to 400 g again in 1986, witnessing a slight fall to less than 400 g in 1991. But, in 1996, they saw a massive diminution to 300 g, followed by a further decline to 200 g in 2001 and 100 g in 2006.
In comparison, rice, which began with 300 g in 1976, demonstrated a steady decrease to below 200 g in 1991, before gradually increasing to over 200 g in 2006.
