Band 7+: The first chart below shows the percentage of school-aged girls and boys who were at secondary school in four regions of the world in 2000. The second chart shows the percentages of college-aged men and women in higher education in the same year.

The given charts compare the percentages of male and female students attending high school and higher education (college and university) in four regions: Europe, Sub-Saharan Africa, Latin America, and East Asia.

Overall, Europe had the highest education rates in both charts, while Sub-Saharan Africa had the lowest.

In high school, nearly 100% of both boys and girls attended in Europe. In Sub-Saharan Africa, around 30% of boys and 20% of girls were in school. In Latin America, about 60% of girls attended high school, which was 10% more than boys. East Asia showed equal attendance for both genders at about 60%.

In higher education, Europe again led, with about 60% of men and slightly over 70% of women in college or university. Sub-Saharan Africa had very low rates—only 5% of men and 2% of women. In Latin America, 20% of males and 5% of females attended. East Asia had about 10% of males and 8-9% of females in higher education.
