The bar chart describes the total time of telephone calls in Australia in three main types between 2001 and 2008. Overall, it is clear that local was the most common category among the three types. Additionally, national and international calls and mobiles calls increased steadly over the period.
In the first four years, local calls remained in the top position and had a slight increase, from 72 billion minutes in 2001 to 89 billion minutes in 2004. National and international calls shared the similar feature to local. However, it was just the second highest kinds of telephone calls, at 38 billion minutes and rose 10 billion minutes until 2004. Futhermore, mobiles calls had the lowest figure in the period, at 2 billion minutes in 2001, which was exactly 36 times less than local. It also rose stably to 9 billion minutes in 2004.
In the last of period, despite the highest number of phone calls, local calls decreased from 90 billion minutes in 2005 to 72 billion minutes in 2008, similar to the first year. National and international calls still increased through last four years and ended at 61 billion minutes in 2008. However, mobiles rocketed at the end of the period. It was just 12 billion minutes in 2005 then increased to 46 billion minutes in 2008, 23 times higher than it was in 2001.
