Despite daily technological advancements, schooling systems have not changed their well-established methods of teaching, which focuses solely on conventional subjects. This sparked an idea that education systems should be transformed, with emphasis on helping students learn skills that will improve their chances of securing jobs. This essay completely stands with this notion because such a holistic approach ensures the development of a well-rounded individual equipped with the soft and hard skills required by most professions.

Undoubtedly, students of schools adopting a holistic teaching method grow up with a myriad of soft skills. These competencies are acquired via immersing students in an integrated, comprehensive teaching environment, which exposes them to real life challenges. Experiencing such challenging situations compels them to think critically and creatively in order to retrieve viable solutions to the presented problems. In addition to these individual skills, students are always encouraged to work in teams; thus cultivating their collaborative and empathetic abilities. For instance, the New York Times reports that 70% of employees who have secured jobs within months of obtaining their degrees were, in fact, graduates of schools that utilised holisitic strategies in their educational systems.

Another major benefit of holistic education is the hands-on training it provides to students, which aids in mastering vital skills for their future jobs. With practical experience, students become proficient in several fields, for example, culinary, graphic designing, and computer science. Exposure to these real-life situations not only inculcates them with resilience and a sensation of self-independence, but also guarantees that they will have become adept at performing certain tasks. As an illustration, Japanese schools ensure that students play sports as part of the school’s curriculum; hence, students mastered basketball and can easily pursue it as a profession.

In conlcusion, although the importance of teaching core subjects in school is undoubtful, the significicance of developing well-rounded students cannot be disregarded. The acquisition of soft and hard skills provided by holisitic education is a substantial reason encouraging the adoption of such an educational strategy by all schools.
