Band 8+: Organized tour to remote areas and community is increasingly popular. Is it a positive or negative development for the local people and the environment?

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

The debate over whether setting up tours to remote places should be determined to have merits or demerits to ecosystems and people in general is ongoing. This essay will elaborate on both views.

On the one hand, tours to a variety of regions offer numerous merits for local people. Initially, visiting a new place possibly fosters economic growth as the increasing number of visitors can meet massive demands such as accommodation, recreational places, and workforce. This, in turn, useful chances for local people, especially unemployed individuals, could help them to approach betterment in living standards or have more lucrative income for daily expenses. Traveling to the northwest of Vietnam, like Sapa and Cao Bang, perfectly exemplifies this situation, where the popularity with visitors from faraway places offers locals abundant opportunities which involve service and guidance. This gives rise to an escape from hardship, especially for the underprivileged people. Furthermore, tours to these places can also increase the function of any nation’s identities associated with local heritages and traditions. If visitors seem to be appealed by the beauty of those things, there is a high likelihood that more and more sponsors will come here for investments, acting as a precursor to facilitate local economy and reputation.

On the other hand, tours to remote places and communities undeniably have some demerits. First, the popularity of tours to different areas can directly impact local people and the environment, such as causing pollution. To illustrate, people who have inadequate consciousness might dump their waste in roads or streets and damage natural habitats. Additionally, organized tours can disrupt local life and traditions since the emergence of diverse customs and traditions can bring about serious repercussions like cultural estrangement and loss of conventional practices.

In summary, while the proliferation of organized tours appears popular, with its double-edged sword influences, the government should monitor this trend by encouraging citizens to be aware of the impacts of their actions.
