Band 6+: Computers are becoming an essential part of school lessons. Discuss the advantages and disadvantages and give your own opinion.

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

Education is increasingly developing, so the use of technological devices has also become common in some schools, especially computers. The use of computers is disadvantageous because of reducing communication skills and causing distraction. However, I strongly believe that computers are advantageous because students easily find sources of knowledge and are supported with more effective learning.

On the one hand, reducing conversational skills and causing interruption are two main disadvantages of using computers at schools. The first drawback is that students may reduce communication skills. Spending too much time learning through computers makes students feel difficult in interacting with teachers and friends. As a result, this can minimize teamwork and face to face activities. The second drawback is that computers lead students to lose concentration. Should teachers not supervise carefully, students can play games during lessons. Consequently, students are attracted by games, causing distraction, resulting in worsening academic performance. Thus, the use of computers at schools has two disadvantages, that students struggle with communication skills reduction and loss in concentration.

On the other hand, I firmly believe that computers which are used intelligently at schools bring two significant advantages. The first benefit is that students easily find sources of information. They can quickly access reputable websites and educational platforms, which provide them with tools to support their studies and broaden their knowledge. The second benefit is that computers provide students with support for more effective learning. With the use of computers, lessons can become more lively, engaging, and able to capture students’ attention, while incorporating educational games helps them maintain motivation and actively participate in the learning process. In short, the use of computers has two advantages for learning.

In conclusion, the use of computers at school not only has disadvantages about reducing interpersonal skills and losing concentration but also offers potential finding sources of information and support for effective learning.
