There is currently a contentious argument over whether gender-segregated education/single-sex education would be more beneficial to university students. In my opinion, I am extremely against the idea that education depends on genders because males and females are equal in intellect, and separating genders might lead to inability to interact with the opposite sex.
One of the major reasons why coeducation is better is because men and women have equal intellect. For example, many professions prioritize skills more than gender. Architects, engineers, and dentists are of various genders. From my experience, I have always been in the coeducational system, and that never affects my ability to learn at all, so I do not think learning in an environment with the opposite sex will disturb my ability to study in university.
Another reason why I do not support the notion of separating genders in education is because learning in singer-sex education would make learners accustomed to the singer-sex environment. If they are surrounded by all genders, they will not feel anxious socializing with the opposite sex. In my experience, there is a friend who came from an all girls’ school, and she said on her first day of coed school was terrifying because she was not used to and scared of the opposite gender.
In conclusion, I completely disagree that separating males and females in the education system would make learning in university more effective because skills do not depend on genders, and learners have to be familiar with the other sex in different environments.
