One school of thought holds that watching TV has a detrimental effect on children’s health, while others believe that it fosters their development. In this essay, I will examine both views and give my own perspective
On the one hand, watching TV plays an important role in the development of children’s knowledge acquisition. Firstly, watching educational TV programs can provide children with limitless knowledge of almost every aspect of life. For example, when children watch programs about wildlife on TV, it helps them know more about plenty of types animals or plants. In addition, watching some foreign languages on television might widen children’s horizon and enrich their knowledge of the foreign languages they learn. For instance, cartoons or educatinal shows like ielts face off can provide children with wide range of english skills
On the other hand, opponents of TV argue that IT brings a lot of negative consequences for children. The first reason is that spending a lot of time sitting in front of TV screens migh lead to a sedentary lifestyle and poor physical health, thereby causing many problems for the eyes such as short-sightedness, and sore eyes. On top of that, spending too much time watching without physical activities would make the child obese. The second reason is that they access toxic content such as pornography or adult games, which can influent children’s think and activities. Specifically, watching toxic content instead of watching educational programs causes the child to lack soft skills such as communication skills, time management skills, and others.
In conclusion, while I agree that watching TV plays a crucial role in children’s development, I still believe that this can affect children in negative ways.
