Some people argue that every large business should provide some exercise and communal centers to the local society. While it is understandable, I believe this approach is unnecessary.
There are several reasons why people think that this action is necessary, for instance, to enhance people’s well-being by adding access to facilities that supporting healthy lifestyles, fostering social connection and also increase the firms’ image. Sports facilities, such as gyms or sports playgrounds for children can encourage local citizen to increase their physical activities and eventually improve public’s health. Furthermore, sports and communal facilities offer space for people to interact and talk with each other, which increase their social interaction and will strengthen their bonds. Additionally, providing these beneficial facilities can give a good impression on the companies’ image. This can potentially lead to new customers and more profit in a long term.
Having said that, we should also consider that requiring all companies to build local facilities may seems unfair to them. Sports and community facilities are not cheap and maintaining them are not that easy either. Many companies have already contributing to the country by paying taxes and increase employement rates, with that being said, demand them to contribute more may lower their initial contributions or worse stopping it all together. Moreover, not all companies have the expertise to manage those centers effectively.
In conclusion, as far as I am concerned, while some benefits can be achieved if we demand all companies to build exercise and communal facilities, this action is unnecessary. Taking this approach will harm the communities more as those businesses may not capable to manage those facilities effectively, and it will burdensome for the companies. Consequently, those companies may stop their initial contributions and add to the people’s losses.
