Band 7+: Some people say that music is a good way of bringing people of different cultures and ages together. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this opinion?

Music is a universal language expressing different kinds of emotions. It is widely believed that it is an effective means of connecting people from diverse cultures and ages. In my opinion, I strongly agree with this statement.–Firstly, music brings happiness among the people regardless of their cultural background and age group. For instance, when there are parties, and celebrations, people play music to allow the invitees to dance on the same beat. In addition, music is a norm for different life events such as birthdays, weddings, anniversaries and even funeral rituals. That is to say, music is essential in many cultures from cradle to grave. Moreover, music is also considered as the best medicine when it comes to healing those suffering from psychological disorders such as anxiety and depression. For instance, a singing bowl is used in yoga practice in order to provide healing therapy. Likewise, music is also used in gym or zumba centers to encourage the effective workout or physical fitness activities. On the other hand, some people may argue that music can disturb the concentration of individuals, and harm the patients in the hospitals when it is louder. In addition, music with vulgar contents can adversely affect family and societal harmony. However, the problems of loud music and contents can be addressed by placing effective policies such as quiet law and raising awareness among the people for playing loud music only in designated places. To conclude, music is a powerful weapon containing a variety of emotions ranging from sorrows to joys and it has a potential to bring people from diverse cultures and ages together. I strongly agree with this perspective. By introducing the law such as quiet law and placing restrictions on the use of louder music in designated places, the malpractices associated with it can be addressed.
