There is an ongoing debate regarding hosting an international tournament. A lot of countries desire to host international sports events, while other nations believe that hosting sports events has less benefit and more problems. In this essay, I will examine both sides and give my opinion.
Many countries want to host international sports events to boost their economies. Hosting an international tournament means people all around the world will visit the place. Additionally, it helps to grow tourism and industry, and it also helps the local shops to boost their income around the tournament area. For example, the most recent World Cup 2022 worst country, Qatar, successfully boosted their economy and tourism after hosting the World Cup. However, I don’t think the economy will keep increasing because the hype will slowly decline after some years and more problems are created during and after the tournament is organised.
On the other hand, a lot of countries believe that hosting our international event has problems. Fastly, crime rates will not increase in the event area; different team supporters will be triggered if the opposing team is winning, and this creates a situation of conflict among people. Second, tourists from different nations can destroy public property in the frustration of losing the game. Lastly, workers from the hosting countries are violently tortured. For example, during the construction of the stadium for World Cup 2022 in Qatar. It was recorded that the maximum number of deaths till now. In addition, while constructing, workers were forced to do overtime and lift unpaid, which is against human rights; therefore, I believe that it has many problems rather than benefits.
