The maps illustrate the layout of the village of Stokeford in 1930 and 2010, showing how it changed over this period.
Overall, the village experienced considerable transformations over the 80-year period, with the major development involving an extension of residential area and the replacement of farmland.
In the western part of the village, in 1930, there were some houses, shops and a post office along the main road around. In addition, the southern area of the village was largely occupied by farmland. After eight decades, the shops and farmland were removed to make way for residential areas as well as a new road branch. The post office, meanwhile, still stayed unchanged and a big roundabout was constructed adjacent to it.
Concerning the remaining side, there was a small primary school next to the road in 1930, which was expanded twofold in 2010. Besides, while all farmland was removed, the large house with gardens inside was converted into a retirement home which was half the size of the former one. Moreover, there was a substantial increase in the number of house as well as the addition of two new branches.
