The given line graph illustrates the number of three different types of crimes in London from 2003 to 2012.
Looking from an overall perspective, it is clear that while the figures for assault and murder showed an upward trend, the reverse was true for armed robbery. Additionally, it is notable that armed robbery was the most prevalent crime at the beginning of the period, but assault took the lead by the end.
In 2003, the number of armed robberies stood at nearly 3,500 cases and rose slightly to around 3,700 in 2004, making it by far the most common type of crime in London. However, over the next four years, this figure declined sharply to just about 1,000 cases, before increasing moderately to 1,500 in 2009 and remaining stable at this level until 2012.
Regarding the number of assaults, beginning at about 2300 cases in 2003, the figure for it
fluctuated slightly throughout the period, reaching the highest figure by the end, at around 2700 cases. Turning to murder, the number rose from about 500 cases in 2003 to roughly 1,000 in 2005, then fell back to the original figure in 2008. After that it fluctuated slightly and finished the period at just over 500 cases.
