Many people consider that obtaining a degree at university is the best option to flourish in one’s career, while the rest of them think that experience various jobs can be vital. In this essay, I will discuss both views and give my opinions.
On the one hand, having a degree is essential in many professions. For example, most companies require at least a bachelor’s degree from their candidates. In addition, universities prepare individuals for the job environment and formal situations, as most lecturers have in-depth knowledge of their subjects. As a result, students gain profound understanding and become more competitive in the future. Moreover, professors and classmates can help them build valuable connections or even provide job opportunities later on.
On the other hand, some people argue that university degrees are not essential, and individuals should start gaining work experience as early as possible. I agree that gaining practical experience from a young age can be very beneficial.Starting work at a young age can make people more sociable, improve their soft skills, and help them become financially independent. Furthermore, many well-known companies such as Apple, Google, and Meta often value long-term experience and practical project involvement more than academic qualifications. As a result, gaining work experience from an early age can pave the way for better career opportunities in the future.
In conclusion, while having a university degree provides individuals with theoretical knowledge and valuable academic connections, gaining work experience from an early age helps develop practical skills and independence. In my opinion, starting work early is more beneficial than solely obtaining a degree, as it better prepares individuals for real-world career challenges.
