In today’s rapidly changing world, some older people give a preference to live in retirement communities and centers with people of the same ages, instead of living with their children. While I believe that they can feel abondoned, or unwanted by their close ones, which can also be offending, I hold the view that staying in such communities is sometimes essential for their own well-being.
In my opinion, aged people become more sensitive compared to the young, so that they can feel hurt easily by their close one’s behaviour. I think it might even be challenging for adults to ask their parents if they would love to live in elderly living facilities, afraiding of hurting their feelings. Moreover, I should also concede that adults might deter bringing their parents those living communities, no matter how big the issue is, due to the fact that in most of the societies this might seem as children do not care about their parents.
On the other hand, retirement centers, I believe, are the optimal places that one can entrust his parents. It is undeniable that as people age, they might get sick. Due to the fact that most of today’s families, especially the young ones, do not have ample time to take care of their parents. In this instance, the optimal method is settling their parents in those centers, to ensure that they are well taken care of.
In conclusion, although aged generation opt to live in elderly living amenities it can be detrimental to their children as they may get pressures from the socitey, and to them to feel forgotten. On the other hand, it can be considered as a positive development since it can be beneficial for their own health and well-being.
