Band 7+: Fossil fuels , such as coal, oil and natural gas, are used in many countries. The use of alternative sources of energy, including wind and solar power, is encouraged. Is this trend a posotive or negative development?

In various parts of the world, the use of fossil fuels has been considered a common option for generating energy. However, some regions are trying to exploit more eco-friendly energy sources like wind and solar because of their long-term benefits. I think this tendency is totally positive.

First and foremost, fossil fuels are non-renewable energy sources. This means they are finite and will eventually become depleted, and this risk is even greater with excessive, poorly managed extraction. Currently, most industries and sectors of society rely heavily on fossil fuels for energy, from powering supply chains and manufacturing goods to meeting people’s basic daily transportation needs. If these fossil-based energy sources ran out, it could have devastating effects on the entire society. Therefore, finding and ultilizing alternative sources of energy, such as solar and wind power, is both necessary and inevitable since these sources are virtually inexhaustible.

In addition, the use of fossil fuels are also has a detrimental impact on the environment. This is because a significant amount of carbon dioxide emissions is released into the atmosphere when fossil fuels are processed, contributing directly to air pollution and global warming. Furthermore, greenhouse gases and other toxic elements from fossil fuel combustion can lead to serious health problems for the public, such as chronic asthma or other repiratory diseases. In contrast, energy production through solar or wind power is considered eco-friendly as it emits virtually no harmful gases into the atmosphere.

While it is true that the intial cost of building and installing infrastructure for the explotation of renewable energy sources, like solar panels and wind turbines, can be quite substantial, this investment is worthwhile in the long term. Over time, the shift to sustainable energy can offset the damage caused by fossil fuel consumption, ultimately providing cleaner power for future generations.

In conclusion, the switch to harmless and unlimited sources of energy in some countries is completely a positive progress and deserved to receive adequate support and care from the authority and government of each nation.
