The line chart below presents the consumption of margarine, butter and low fat & reduced spreads between 1981 and 2007.
Overall, the consumption of butter reached the highest peak, but then went down considerably. The consumption of margarine slowly drop. And lowfat spreads rose significantly, but then decreased noticably.
In 1981, butter spreads was 140 gramms, while margarine spreads was 90 gramms. In the beginning butter rose to 160 gramms, then declined until 55 gramms. And margarine spreads also fell from 90 gramms to 40.
In 1996, low fat and ruduced spreads consisted only 10 gramms, but then grow dramaticly to 85 gramms and went down slightly to 70 gramms.
