Many governments think that economic progress is their most important objective. Some people, however, would say that other fields of progress are equally important for a country.
People have diverse views about how governments should take the measurements of their countries’ progress. Even if economic progress is definitely essential, I agree with those who believe that other areas of progress are just as important.
There are certain reasons why economic growth is perceived as a fundamental objective for countries. One of them is that economic growth shows how far economic activity will generate additional community income in a certain period. It means that an increasing economic growth will elevate income community as well. Indirectly, it shows the affordability of community to fulfill their daily needs becomes better. In this regard, their welfare in the form of income community begins increasing. Besides, with economic growth, the increased productivity and income will be guaranteed through the creation of job opportunities.
However, I will argue that a variety of other forms of progress are just as significant as the economic factors as mentioned above. Specifically, we should consider the aspect of security and health. The security aspect of a country becomes the main thing as well because even though a country which has a better economic stability, but if its security is threatened, so the people in the country will not feel safe in actuating their economic activities. Another aspect that is also important is health aspect. The protection of natural environment must be paid attention and increased. If the natural environment of a country has been protected, it will result in a healthy country. Thus, the key indicator of a successful nation can be measured by considering on the aspects of welfare, security, and health.
In conclusion, the economy is clearly a key marker of a country’s success, but security, environmental and health criteria are equally significant.
