The maps illustrate the changes of the Lakeside area over a 9-year period between 2000 and 2009.
Overall, theLakeside area witnessed a noticeable urbanisation, including construction of university, expansion of industrial area and reduction of woodland area.
In the central area, the river, which ran along the map to the north-eastern ,divided the Lakeside into two areas. After the renovation plan was implemented, the residential area located in the southern part of the map was demolished and the area of the woodland laying to the south was cut down in order to expand the industrial complex.
Looking to the north-western part of the river, the residential area was placed the north-western remained unchanged. The derelict warehouse next to the accommodation area was replaced by a car park. A new office building, which had previously been an old town, was constructed near the car parking. A new university was built next to the woodland and a pond. The arts center located in the west of the map was transformed into a multi-screen cinema. The residential area nearby the river was also replaced by a shopping mall.
