Conversing in a unified language would reduce disparities and improve unity among various nationalities. This would subsequently elevate global cooperation and understanding. A new, universal language would be of optimum benefit to worldwide trade and economic status, however, it would diminish the preservation of our distinct cultural heritages in which language is an important aspect of. This essay will discuss my personal stance on this topic that moderately agrees that there should be an international language.
Having an international language that connects people from different parts of the continent would be an immense contribution to global finances and trade. People from varying countries would be able to carry out business projects in teams as there would be no disparity in communication. The universal language would be a medium of clear and concise communication. Foreign trade as well as international travel becomes easier as major barrier being communication would be tackled with the global tongue. Were it not for English language that helped other countries collaborate on business deals with Asian countries due to the extensive language barrier, it would have been a great obstacle.
Although speaking an international language would be of great aid to the world, it can also lead to depreciation in the cultural norms and aspects. Language is one structure that helps make a nation or sect distinct and unique, and if the rate of speaking is reduced to an all time low, it can slowly dissipate. For instance, the rate at which Nigerians speak their native dialects has reduced by over 40% because they barely converse with it and use English in most of their daily conversations.
From my perspective, a worldwide language should be introduced and used in necessary situations. Various native languages should be taught to individuals to ensure conservation of essential cultural aspects. The invention of a generally spoken language will improve the global economic status.
