The bar chart illustrates the different university subject choices made by both genders in 2005.
For male students, the most popular majors included science, mathematics, social sciences, humanities, literature, and law. In contrast, various languages and arts were not as popular among men but were highly favored by female students. For women, social sciences and language studies were the primary choices, while humanities, sciences, arts, and literature had a similar number of students enrolled.
The number of male students who chose science as their major was double that of their female counterparts. Mathematics was even more imbalanced, with the number of males almost quadrupling that of females. In social sciences, females outnumbered males by 11. Language studies showed a striking difference, with the number of females being nine times that of males (2). The numbers for humanities were equal, with both genders having 11 students. In the arts, only 3 males chose this subject, while 9 female students selected it.
