Some compamies invest heavily on research and conduct experiments on animals to test products before offering them for human consumption. While this trend has several advantages, some people conern about how ethical is this practise. From my point of view, benefits slightly outweight the drawbacks.
One the one hand, animal testing has played a crucial role in the developement of the medicine and helped to prevent some terrible diseases and stop the waves of pandemic in the past. For instance, discoveries of vaccines for many infectious diseases were relied on experiments performed on animals. As animals have bioligical systems similar to humans, it was easier to predict consequences for people from drugs and medicine more accurately. Moreover, without animal testing progress in the health industry would be much slowlier and it would cost thousands of human’s lifes.
On the other hand, many people argue about ethic issues that arise as a result of animal experements. Animals are kept in unnatural and severe conditions, and experience a lot of pain, stress, phisical and psichological harm during tests. Therefore, higly emphatetic person may consider this process cruel and morally unacceptable. Additionally, sometimes these trials do no lead to useful outcomes and it means that animals suffer for no reason.
In conclusion, despite the fact that without animal testing our lifes have not become safe enough, especially the medical field, some individuals think this trend is unacceptable becuse of ethic and moral norms. However, i think nowadays science is advanced enough to avoid this brutal method.
