People are putting a lot of pressure on proper development of a child these days. That is why people are trying to find a concrete theory on what influences the most a child’s mind. Some think that it is television, friends and music others however, state that family has the biggest impact.
To begin, television undoubtedly affects how children generally view the world. There they can observe situations that normally would not happen to them in real life, and based on those they would get a grasp of how different social interactions work. Additionally, friends are an important factor as well. Through contact with other human-beings children begin to discover their identity and to behave in certain social situations. The same goes for music, developing an interest for a particular genre can greatly shape one’s identity.
On the other hand, in the opinion of some, family plays a more vital role in child’s development. Studies have shown that proper contact with one’s parents can shape one’s sense of self and their ability to trust others. Adult, who have suffered from lack of closure in their childhood often struggle to commit to serious relationships. Moreover, it is often the case that they need to go to therapy to repair the damage done by uncaring and toxic parents.
Personally, I agree with the statement that family is more important for the development of a child. Parents have the responsibility of making their children feel safe and loved for who they are, and they need to show the child he or she should love themselves.
To sum up, there are to differing views on what affects a young, growing mind the most. They both certainly play a role in how a child becomes an adult; however, I would argue that the latter factor is a more substantial factor.
