The six pie charts illustrate the proportional distribution of water using for various purposes six areas of the world in three sectors, namely industry, agriculture, and domestic.
Overall, the largest share in most charts was held by agriculture, while domestic consistently represented the smallest proportion. Additionally, all three categories increasing significantly, while others declined.
In North America, industry accounted for 48%, making it the largest segment. This was followed by agriculture, which represented 39%. In contrast, domestic comprised only 13%, forming the least significant part of the chart. In South America, industrial decreased to 10%, while agricultural rose to 71%. The domestic use also increased to 19%.
Turning to Europe, industry use again dominated with 53%,. Agriculture accounted for 32%. The smallest segment was domestic, at 19%. By Asia, noticeable shifts occurred. industry fell to 7%, whereas agriculture increased markedly to 84%. Domestic declined to 8%.
In Central Asia, the largest proportion was again held by agriculture at 88%, with domestic accounting for 7%. Meanwhile, the smallest share was agriculture representing only 5%. In South East Asia, the distribution shifted noticeably. Agriculture drop to 81%, while industry surge to 12%. The domestic use remained unchaned with 7%.
