The line graph illustrates the consumption of different kinds of meat and fish in a European country over a 25-year period from 1979 to 2004. Overall, lamb and beef had decreased noticeably throughout the period, whereas chicken consumption increased substantially. On the contrary, fish remained constant over the years.
It is clear that chicken consumption experienced a dramatic rise. From an initial figure of approximately 150 grams in 1979, it increased sharply to reach a peak of around 250 grams by 2004 overtaking others. Meanwhile, the figure for fish declined steadily from nearly 50 grams to below 50 by the end of the period.
In contrast, lamb decreased gradually over the span from around 150 grams to approximately above 50. Conversely, the index for beef saw a sharp decline. From an initial figure of 220 grams to nearly 110 grams.
