Recent years more languages are lost. It is thought this event is not necessary, because of this it is easier to live and communication in the world. As a linguist, I disagree this idea because of some reasons.
Nowadays, some languages are under the risk which will be lost. This damage not only for these languages but also for the world. If they die out, people lose several cultural wealth. At university we are learning ancient turkish language which is mother of our uzbek language. This language is used from 5th centuries up to 15th centuries. In this millennium lots of best literal works and other useful informations are written. For example, ancient ethnographic Tunyuquq, Kultegin and Bilga xaqan gravestones give us informations which are helpful to learn history, these centuries’ cultural, military and economical condition. From Mahmud Koshgariy, Ibn Sino, Mirzo Ulugbek, Alisher Navoi and other famous scientists remain rich and great inheritance. Their books are recently used in science, medicine and cosmography over the world. True, their languages are not using now. But because of learning this, people have more useful knowledge.
There is a phrase: If language lives, nation lives too. Almost every nations have their own language, hymn and works. This is pride for the country and public. However if they lose their language that means they are independent. They have to obey to other nation, have to learn their culture. Nowadays, more young people learn foreign languages which are most used in the world. True, this is very useful for their future life, work and study. But this causes to forget their own tongue. Most foreigners think that to learn uzbek language is more difficult. Contrary, young people have to do more famous and useful inventions, scientific research in uzbek language. After this, foreigners have got to learn our language.
In conclusion, I don’t support the death of language are useful.
