Whether pursuing tertiary education after graduation or entering the workforce immediately after graduation in order to secure a rewarding career has been widely disputed. Although university education helps build a solid foundation for a long-term and successful career road, in my view, the choice largely depends on one’s own professional goals.
On the one hand, higher education is of great importance in equipping students with essential knowledge and specialized skills which enable them to apply for numerous types of work. Furthermore, students planning to pursue careers in politics, economics, and engineering need special knowledge that only can be obtained through attending in university lessons. Besides , while studying in colleges and universities, students are exposed to difficult tasks and assignments, fostering their critical thinking. As a result, their enhanced logical thinking allows them to understand intricate systems of their work. Moreover, most of the employers require at least a bachelor’s degree from the applicant, using this as evidence of a job seeker’s discipline and expertise.
On the other hand, entering the workforce immediately after the secondary education allows students to gain necessary workplace skills, communication and problem-solving skills. Secondly, through hands-on experience, students can start earning money at an early age, encouraging them to be more independent individuals. As a result, they learn bearing their own responsibilities, including money management. Besides , employee hirers, particularly in fields like entrepreneurship and trade, look for employees who have practical skills. Furthermore, there are many businessmen who have become successful through gaining practical experience instead of conceptual.
In my view, although both sides have their own merits to consider, I believe tertiary education is more important in building a solid foundation for opening opportunities to get a sustainable and prosperous job. However, a balanced combination of the two, studying in a university while also gaining work experience, is an optimum approach.
In conclusion, it’s undeniable that practical experience is effective. However, pursuing a tertiary education is more crucial to settle in a rewarding and permanent occupation.
