In 1990, France received about 40 million tourists, and this figure rose steadily to around 82 million in 2020. Spain also followed a similar trend, starting at approximately 30 million and increasing to about 75 million by the end of the period. The growth in Spain was faster after 2000.
On the other hand, Japan had a different pattern. It began at around 35 million visitors and increased slightly to nearly 40 million in 2000. However, after that, the number gradually decreased to about 32 million in 2020. Overall, France and Spain became more popular, while Japan experienced a fall in tourist numbers.
