Band 8+: Some people think that students should study only the subjects that are useful for future careers, such as science and technology. Others believe that students should also study subjects like art, music, and history. Do you think students should study only useful subjects for jobs, or should they study a wider range of subjects? Give your opinion.

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

Nowadays, some people believe that students should focus on subjects or skills that are useful or connected to their future careers, while others argue that learners should study a wide range of subjects. In this essay, I will discuss both views and offer my opinion.

Firstly, one of the main reasons for focusing on future-relevant subjects is that learning skills aligned with our passions and talents can be incredibly motivating. For example, if I aspire to become a diplomat but struggle with subjects like chemistry or physics, I might instead excel in learning new languages and studying history. My talent lies in languages, and dedicating my time to it keeps me engaged and prevents burnout. The main benefit is that I save time and maintain my motivation.

Secondly, there is a risk associated with only studying subjects that are comfortable or easy for us, as it may lead to complacency and laziness. It is crucial to challenge ourselves and not rely solely on our talents. Moreover, understanding that all subjects are interconnected can enrich our learning experience. By exploring diverse perspectives, we can gain a deeper understanding of the world around us.

In conclusion, I believe we should study a wide range of subjects, even if they are challenging. At the very least, we should grasp the basic concepts and principles behind various disciplines.
