Many individual decide to take a gap year after completing their School or University either to travel or to gain some work experience. While, in my perspective there are clear benefits of having a gap year, but it also brings certain drawbacks that can’t be ignored. So, I will be assessing both the advantages and the disadvantages.
One of the main advantages of having a gap year is utilizing the time effectively and learning practical skills related to specific field by gaining real world experience. For instance, a significant benefit of this is networking that is building connection’s with the professionals, those can help resolve doubts and help building future business. Also perhaps the most notable advantage is to relax before choosing career path. Moreover, there are several beneficial aspects of having a gap year the most important is to reduce academic stress such as relaxing at home or by moving out on an adventurous journey. This is because the individuals get exhausted after that long tenure of educational career. So, these beneficial reasons illustrate the importance of having a gap year.
However, despite all the benefits there are certain significant disadvantages that can’t be overlooked. In addition, one of a challenges students face is losing momentum regarding academics that leads to loss of interest in studies such as priorities being changed over time. On the other hand, the gap year also affects the career opportunities which an individuals can avail while being in an institute. Due to these issues gap year is not preferable.
In conclusion, although gap year after completing school and university has several advantages, the drawbacks are also there.
