In today’s world, many companies tend to retire their employees once they have reached a certain age. I completely agree with this view and believe elderly staff should be replaced by younger workers despite the difference in their work experience.
First and foremost, most workers lose their strength as they become older. This is mainly because the human body has limits, and working for a long time approximately 30 or 35 years, can affect it negatively. For example, younger employees are likely to work for five or six hours before they take breaks, while older workers usually should take a rest every one or two hours. This means that productivity levels would certainly decline through it.
In addition, employment opportunities for young people are very limited. Many companies can offer only a few jobs for them every year, and do not try to increase their staff members dramatically to keep expenses low. Consequently, they should lay off some of their older workers to make room for younger ones.
Finally, the experience and skills of older workers are usually out of date. They might have a lot of experience with old technology and machines, but their employers constantly need to upgrade their equipment and methods. Furthermore, the abilities of older workers are unnecessary in the long run, and young workers who know how to operate modern technologies such as computers and lasers can replace them.
In conclusion, I think companies need to force elderly staff to retire and employ younger workers to replace them to enhance productivity and provide job opportunities for young people.
