The pie charts compare the proportions of usage of social media,broken down by gender, in Australia in 2011 and 2014.
Overall, a majority of males never used social media in 2011, whereas females were registered by being active. By 2014, the usage of social media every day was recorded the most dominant percentage for both genders, while other proportions saw fluctuations over the years.
In 2011, nearly half of men have been inactive on social media, while, the percentage of women showed only 8%. Although, males’ percentage went down from initial 44 to final 30, meanwhile, females’ percentage moderately climbed by 2014. Next came to use once a week, where men remained almost unchanged at a tenth over the time frame, lagging notably behind females’ number about 39 percent in 2011, albeit it dropped to 10% in 2014 too.
The breakdown of scrolling every day among genders revealed that men’s percentage pronounced increase from a quarter of total number to nearly half over the years. In comparison, women’s percentage surged considerably to almost doubled percent from 2011 to 2014. Last on the list, to use few times a week, which slightly decreased between 2011 and 2014 in males. Also, females’ percentage was higher in the first year than in the second by a margin of 13%.
