People have differing views regarding whether artificial intelligence should be granted legal rights, while other believe that it should never be treated as a sentient being. Although, both perspective have their own merits, I believe that it should granted certain legal rights similar to humans. This essay will discuss both views before explaining why it is dangerous without legal rights.
On the one hand, many people believe that AI is merely a tool and should never be treated as a sentient being because these technology lacks self-awareness and emotions. This is mainly because AI operated via pattern recognition and mathematical prediction, which leads to issue resolution and optimized supply chain. In other words, AI is a highly advanced computer program that analyzes huge amount of data rather thank thinking like human beings. For example, most of these technology is a tool used to automate repetetive tasks and analyze massive datasets. Therefore, supporters of this view argue that AI is more of technology instead of living being.
On the other hand, others argue that advanced technology such as artificial intelligence should be granted legal rights similar to humans since smart systems can creates loss of human touch and privacy. Although the previous argument may be valid to some extent, I believe that certain legal rights should be implemented to ensure accountability, prevent algorithmic discrimination. Moreover, this protects society from uncontrolled autonomous decisions and preserves core human rights, which plays a significant role in privacy development. A clear example of this can be written as systems used in healthcare, law enforcement must undergo strict assessment and ensure human oversight. Thus, I believe that implementing legal rights to these technologies is more beneficial.
In conclusion, while some support the idea that AI is merely a tool, other believe that it should implement certain law. Personally, I believe that introducing certain laws to these neural networks is more effective because it reduces the chance of data leakage and gain long-term advantages. Ultimately, this approach would lead to better tech future and limits unwanted piracy.
