It is commonly believed that crimes will fall if technology improves. I firmly agree with the opinion because technological advances affect lawbreakers psychologically and improve cybersecurity.
One reason for this opinion is that increase in the number of cameras prevent crimes, affecting committers psychologically. When lawbreakers commit crimes, they look around first, making sure that there is no camera. For this reason , when they see that there are a lot of cameras, they usually walk away from committing crimes. For example, in cities like London, many streets have cameras, so because of this criminals are less likely to commit crimes because they are scared they can be caught. Hence, the reason why technological advances detect crimes is that such advances make criminals easier to track.
Another reason for this view is that improvements in cybersecurity prevent hackers from committing crimes online. When companies improve their security systems, it will be difficult for hackers to access personal information. For this reason, cyberattacks fail and online crimes decrease. For example, many banks now use improved cybersecurity systems to protect customer’s online accounts. Hence, another reason why improvements in technology prevent crimes is that they make it harder for criminals to succeed online.
In conclusion, I strongly believe that improving technological advances is very important because it provides easier ways to detect crimes and creates many challenges for hackers to gain information.
