It is believed that an effective public transport system is the most crucial facility of a modern city. However, a number of individuals think that it is significant to invest in other important public services. This essay aims to discuss both views and explain why I strongly believe that it is more essential to invest in other requirements for a city.
On the one hand, a number of citizens think that a good public transport service is the most necessary requirement because it encourages individuals to travel by bus, train, and tram. Moreover, an increasing number of citizens using public transport can protect the environment and reduce air pollution, especially in CO2. If people use public transport more, it can reduce the use of private vehicles. Therefore, supporters of this view argue that improving public transport should be the government’s highest priority.
On the other hand, a developed city has to be invested comprehensively in other important fields such as education, emergency services, and social welfare. First, governments must pay money for expanding the capacity of roads, which can help reduce traffic jams. Second, it is important to allocate funding to education and emergency services, which are the key components of a developed city. For instance, Singapore is one of the most comprehensively developed countries because its authorities allocate funding to education, emergency services, and social welfare, providing a high quality of life. From my perspective, I believe that it is more important to invest in other convenient requirements for a city.
