In the past decades, computers are gradually used more in all sectors of life and economy, resulting in a developed dependency on them. In this essay I’ll suggest additional uses for computers in the future and elaborate why I believe the modern advancements are positive, though should be handled with caution.
A possible area to which computers will be employed next is replacing simple and repetitive jobs that are currently done manually. For example, accounting is considered a profession soon to be extinct due to technological development in computing. Furthermore, AI has shown remarkable success in content creation abilities and while traditional authors, painters and musicians will continue to produce art, computer fabricated art is expected to dominate the field.
This new method to render important work more quickly and efficiently will be a revolution in the economic market, boosting profits and innovations of companies who won’t need to spend their resources on it anymore. It will also help people who aren’t skilled enough to complete these tasks on their own to focus on their main ventures. However, full dependency on computers is vulnerable to hacking and disrupting which could destroy whole enterprises. Human creativity as we know it can also be endangered by AI since it only produces data based on existing information, unable to come up with new innovative ideas.
In conclusion, I think computers have still got plenty of developments to undergo which will mostly help humanity to progress. The dependency on them allows us to grow and thrive but measures to ensure we won’t fall victim to abuse should be taken.
