Band 7+: Fossil fuels are the main source of energy around the world. However, people are encouraged to use alternative energy sources such as wind energy, solar energy and so on. Do you think this is a positive or negative development?

Nowadays, fossil fuels remain the main sources of energy in many countries, while renewable energy sources such as wind and solar power are increasingly being promoted. Althought the use of renewable energy has some drawbacks, I believe that it is a positive development because its environmental and long-term energy benefits.

On the one hand, using renewable energy sources can reduce environmental pollution and enhance energy security in the long term. Unlike fossil fuels, wind and solar power generate electricity without burning coal, oil, and natural gas, which can help reduce carbon emissions and air pollution. In addition, fossil fuels are finite resources that will eventually be depleted, whereas sunlight and wind are naturally available and can be used repeatedly. Therefore, investing in sustainable energy can have a positive impact on the environment and play an important role in ensuring a stable energy supply.

On the other hand, the adoption of renewable energy can be costly and heavily dependent on weather conditions. Setting up solar panels and wind turbines requires substantial initial investment, which can place a financial burden on governments and businesses, particularly in developing countries. Moreover, renewable energy generation is often affected by unpredictable weather. For example, solar panels generate less electricity on cloudy or rainy days, while wind turbines may produce insufficient power when wind speeds are low. As a resutl, relying heavily on these energy sources may lead to an unstable electricity supply and make it difficult to meet energy demand consistently.

In conclusion, although the adoption of renewable energy may be limited by high initial costs and unpredictable weather conditions. Overall, I believe that the use of renewable energy is still a positive development because of its environmental benefits and its potential to ensure a stable and sustianable energy supply
