Due to increased energy requirements of people, the demand for oil and gas as a source of electricity is also rising. Many argue that we should reduce our oil and gas use, but I firmly believe that undiscovered areas should be accessed for the retrieval of more resources to meet the needs of the population.
Resources discovered in other areas of the world should be used to fulfil the energy requirements for an expanding population. The primary reason is that energy is needed to maintain most sectors, including agriculture and health, and with no other efficient methods, oil and gas are the main materials used. For example, developing countries in Asia and Africa are unable to meet certain needs of their populations, especially when it comes to agriculture, leading to inaccessibility of basic needs like food and good nutrition. Such countries would be able to benefit from undiscovered resources to sustain the needs of their citizens.
Opening up undiscovered areas for access to more resources creates job opportunities and develops the economy. Locals living in areas with resources gain employment from industries started in the area, leading to a higher standard of living. For example, the discovery and mining of oil and natural gas in Gulf countries, such as Saudi Arabia and Qatar, has led to a boom in their economies and opened up employment opportunities for people worldwide, while increasing the quality of life for their citizens.
In conclusion, while there is controversy surrounding the increased use of oil and natural gas, the benefits involved in accessing undiscovered areas outweigh the negatives. Furthermore, people get to acquire a higher standard of living overall when the energy requirements of a population are met.
